Isaiah Murray Obituary

The Raleigh-Durham area has lost one of the great radio voices in the community and the nation. Isaiah Reuben Murray, age 58, the youngest son of the late Kenneth B Murray Sr and Margaret Rose Murray ended his courageous battle with lung cancer Thursday, May 22, 2014. His career in radio broadcasting and marketing, spanned 40 years. He is survived by his mother, siblings Rhonda K. Muhammad, Kenneth B. Murray Jr. and his three adult children Isaiah Murray Jr., Bonita Frederick, and Alonzo Murray and host of family and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 27, at the Islamic Center of Raleigh on Atwater Street, with visitation from 12:30-1:30 pm and Janaaza Prayer (funeral) service immediately following. Memorial Services will be held at Vital Link Event Center, 1214 East Lenoir Street at 3:30 PM after funeral.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made by check or money order payable to:

Isaiah was a wonderful person, a kind soul and well loved. He will live on in our memories, for we have been taught that love is stronger than death. Isaiah was a kind soul and spirit. Every encounter he had with people was always enriching. I will miss my former co- worker. I can honestly say Isaiah improve the lives of every body he was in contact with.

To Cousins Margaret, Rhonda, Kenneth, Ike, Jr., Bonita, Alonzo and Pat! Cousin Ike will truly be missed! He was a ray of sunshine -- I loved to see him coming - - always cheerful and positive! My heart ached to know that he was terminally ill. Though I will miss him tremendously, I'm glad to know that he suffers no more pain here on this earth. He'll be hugely missed at our Annual King Family Reunions in which he was a huge part of. So glad that we were able to see him last year; did know that it would be the last time. RIP, my cousin! God knew you were tired!

One only needs to know his parents. The late Brother Kenneth Murray and Mrs. Margaret Rose Murray are the jewels which inspire and uplift our community. Isaisah and his approach to life also was in inspiration to us all.

Mr. Murray was the most important voice on every NCCU Sports Network broadcast since 2009. He was the most sincere guy and always had a smile on his face. I can't tell you how much I will miss him!
