Jennifer Midkiff Obituary

Jennifer Midkiff

October 25, 1966 - January 6, 2025

Timberlake, North Carolina - Jennifer Mary Midkiff, known affectionately to friends and family as Jen, was a beacon of kindness and a testament to the power of gentle strength. Born on October 25, 1966, in Suffern, New York, Jen's journey on this earth was a melody of love, service, and unwavering faith that concluded gracefully on January 6, 2025, in Timberlake, North Carolina. Despite her battle with Metastatic Ocular Melanoma and End-Stage Liver Disease, Jen's spirit remained unshaken, a true warrior clothed in gentleness, inspiring everyone she encountered.

Jen's early years in Suffern, NY, laid the foundation for her nurturing character, which blossomed as she moved and continued her education at Barboursville High School in Huntington, WV. Her passion for helping others was further ignited as she pursued and achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in Counseling and Rehabilitation from Marshall University. There, she not only honed her skills but also her heart for service, a trait that would define her life's work.

Before embracing the cherished role of a stay-at-home mom, Jen devoted her professional life to empowering individuals with special needs. She worked with an array of organizations, touching numerous lives with her innate ability to see the ability in disability. Jen's work was not just a job; it was a calling, a manifestation of her love for humanity that knew no bounds.

Jen's interests were as rich and diverse as her compassion. Music was a river of joy in her life; she found solace and celebration in Christian music. Her talents with the guitar and her melodious voice uplifted many a soul, echoing through the walls of her church where she sang with heartfelt passion. In college, her commitment to faith and community shone brightly as she engaged with the Newman Center and the Baptist Student Union, fostering an environment of spiritual growth and camaraderie.

The essence of Jen's life was her family – her devoted husband, Bentley Randall Midkiff, her loving children, Diana Lynn, Luke Anthony, and Rachel Susann (Midkiff) Cash and her parents, John Joseph Fisher and Diane Marie Acquaviva. Each of them a reflection of her love, a testament to her life's dedication to nurturing and guiding those she held dear. Jen's legacy lives on through them, a perpetual reminder of her love and selflessness.

Her journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to Bible Study and fellowship. Jen believed in the power of community, the strength of shared beliefs, and the beauty of collective reflection. Her gentle nature was her strength, her friendliness a bridge to many hearts, and her selflessness, a mirror to her soul.

In remembering Jen, we are reminded of the profound impact one life can have. Her story is one of triumph, not of tragedy. It is a narrative that teaches us the beauty of living for others, the joy of a song sung from the heart, and the peace that comes from a faith deeply held. Jen's life was a masterclass in humanity, a course in compassion, and a sermon on love.

Let us take a page from Jen's book of life and be the friendly face in a crowd, the gentle hand in a time of need, and the selfless spirit in a world that yearns for kindness. Her memory is not a whisper but a melody that continues to resonate, a song of hope that dances in the hearts of those she touched.

Jennifer Mary Midkiff was more than a name; she was a lesson in living, a hymn of grace, and a legacy of love. As we celebrate her life, let us carry forward the torch of her legacy, illuminating the world with the light she so freely shared. Jen's journey has taught us that even amidst the darkest of times, the human spirit can shine brightly, and love can, indeed, conquer all.
