John was a dedicated and hard working Medicaid Fraud Special Investigator. He was highly respected by his co-workers in the Medicaid Investigations Division of the North Carolina Department of Justice. He consistently demonstrated advanced knowledge and skills working the most complex Medicaid provider fraud investigations. He investigated cases and assisted and mentored other investigators in cases that resulted in fraud convictions and the recovery of millions of dollars in taxpayer money. His work also led to the conviction of health care workers who assaulted or stole from handicapped and elderly residents in health care facilities. He worked hard to protect our most vulnerable citizens. His zeal as a law enforcement officer never flagged, but his zeal was anchored in a firm grasp of ethics and desire to follow the law. He was a good friend and colleague. It was a pleasure to associate with him. We will miss him greatly.
