John Wesley Sanders of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on March 15, 2011 at the Aegis of Moraga Assisted Living facility in Moraga, California. His passing comes after a stroke and courageous confrontation with declining health over the last year. John was 81 years old.
John was born on November 17, 1929 in Johnston County, North Carolina. He was the son of Willis Vance and Vernona Austin Sanders. He grew up on the family farm and attended Cleveland High School. John's adult work life included executive management positions with Lithonia Lighting, Inc. in Georgia, VeloBind, Inc. in California and Apple Computer, Inc. in Singapore. John headed Apple's manufacturing operations as Director of Manufacturing and led the establishment and operation of Apple's manufacturing facility in Singapore from 1981 to 1991. He also assisted with Apple operations in Tokyo prior to his retirement in 1992. After retirement John held consulting positions in Australia and Boston, Massachusetts.
John's true enjoyment of life included travel, golf and enjoyment of his granddaughters, many friends and large extended family. He was eternally optimistic and was well known for his ability to gain the confidence and trust of his associates.

Sanders and wife, Susan, of Moraga, CA, Marty Sanders of Kauai, Hawaii, two granddaughters, Jennifer Du Borg and husband Magnus of Moraga, CA, and Kristen Sanders of Moraga, CA, brothers David Sanders of Carefree, AZ, Robert Sanders and wife, Emma , of Raleigh, NC, Lewis Sanders and wife, Gail, of Chapel Hill, NC, Dewey and wife, Bartlett, of Raleigh, NC, Donald Sanders of Pinnacle, NC; sisters, Betty Smith and husband, John, of Raleigh, NC, Callie Sorrell and husband, Don, of Apex, NC, Jane Johnson and husband, Paul, of Willow Spring, NC. John was predeceased by his parents, Willis and Vernona, and his loyal and loving wife of 56 years, Rachel Page Sanders.
A visitation with the family will take place at 1:00P EDT on March 22, 2011 at Montlawn Funeral Home. This will be followed by a service to celebrate the life of John Sanders at 2:00P EDT at the Montlawn Funeral Chapel. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Montlawn Memorial Park.
