I just found out on the 10th and I was "shocked" to say the least! I spoke with Jonathan's Mom on the 12th for almost two hours and, after our conversation, I knew why Jonathan loved his family so much. Jonathan and I met a little over a year ago and he had a tremendous impact on me with the circumstances surrounding us. I'll never forget him and what he did for me! I tell everyone I can to love your Mom and Dad, do good by them and respect them with all you got! Jonathan loved his family very much and I love him for sharing his life with me as we spent time together! We will see you again soon, my friend!

Janet, Charles, and family. I am so sorry for your loss. I talked to my mom today, and she told me the shocking news. Please know I am praying for you all. Your faith will get you through this, God is good, even when we don't know the answers to the "whys". Love you.

Dear Mrs Janet, Mr. Charles and Josh,
I'm still in shock to learn about the passing of Jonathan. It still seems so surreal. It seems like yesterday Me, Josh, Jonathan and Darrius were running around playing basketball, pool, and riding four wheelers all weekend never thinking we were wearing out our welcome at each others homes. These are memories that we will cherish forever and can never be taken away from us. As much as I want to question the lord on why this happened, we all know that he doesn't make mistakes and will never put more on our plate than we can handle. You are in my prayers and I love you all.

Janet you are such an admirable woman in my eyes. I remember the first time I met you. You were so welcoming. So easy to talk too. It has been a couple of years since I have seen you last. I saw Jonathan again for the first time in ages a couple of months ago. We talked about old times and I got the chance to rebuild our friendship that got lost over time. He was always willing to help me out in any time of need. Jonathan had a soft heart, and always had an ear to listen. I know that he is in a better place now, and I am positive you will see him again. He is merely looking down on us from heaven now. He will be dearly missed.
Dear Charles, Janet and Joshua,
I am so very sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you during this fragile time. Jonathan will be remembered always. My deepest sympathies go out to you.

As the mother of two sons for whom my love knows no bounds, I feel deeply for the both of you with your loss of Jonathan. There is a poem by an unknown author that I read once about the depth of love a mother has for her child who has passed away that I wanted to share with you. All of my prayers are with the both of you during this difficult time.
The Cord
We are connected,
My child and I, by
An invisible cord
Not seen by the eye.
It's not like the cord
That connects us 'til birth
This cord can't been seen
By any on Earth.
This cord does it's work
Right from the start.
It binds us together
Attached to my heart.
I know that it's there
Though no one can see
The invisible cord
From my child to me.
The strength of this cord
Is hard to describe.
It can't be destroyed
It can't be denied.
It's stronger than any cord
Man could create
It withstands the test
Can hold any weight.
And though you are gone,
Though you're not here with me,
The cord is still there
But no one can see.
It pulls at my heart
I am bruised...I am sore,
But this cord is my lifeline
As never before.
I am thankful that God
Connects us this way
A mother and child
Death can't take it away!

Charles, Janet and Joshua,
I am very sorry for your loss. We don't always understand the reason things happen but we have to believe that God does not give us more than we can bear. Eventually you will find peace in all of your memories of Jonathan and comfort from your faith in God.

Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers as you try to navigate this difficult journey. In the coming days, weeks, and months ahead you will be surprised at how many you didn't realize share the common thread of the loss of a child and those who know you and many who don't will silently pray that your tears will soon be replaced with sweet memories that will cause you to smile again. Memories are forever, to grab when we need them most.

Janet, Charles, & Joshua,
I know that there are no words to ease your pain right now, but know that you all are in the hearts of others who care about you and pray for you as God eases your sorrow and replaces it with sweet memories of Jonathon. I look at the picture of him and still, all I see is that sweet little 2 year old that I used to babysit and loved to hear him talk with that accent. Remember that we can never be separated from those we love because of the memories that God leaves us with to hold onto and love...because the memories do not pass away.
My prayers are with you all. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do for any of you.
Love you all,
Heather Smith

Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
