Julian Horace Watkins

Julian Horace Watkins, 82, a resident of 3554 Hwy 15, Oxford, died Monday, October 13, 2008 at his home.
A native of Granville County, the son of the late John Kenneth and Henrietta Wheeler Watkins. He was of the Baptist faith, a Veteran of WWII where he served in the U.S. Navy, a retired brick mason, a member of the Masonic Lodge #687 and an avid NASCAR fan.
Graveside funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Tally Ho First Baptist Church Cemetery by Chaplain Linwood Jarrell.
He is survived by his daughter, Judy Watkins Smith and husband Randy of Oxford; a son, Glenn Watkins and wife Angela of Oxford; a sister, Wanda Watkins Averette of Apex; four brothers, Cecil Watkins and wife Dot of Harker's Island, William Watkins of Butner, David Watkins of Warrenton, Thomas Watkins and wife Peggy of Asheboro; four grandchildren, Paul Smith, Joshua Watkins, Lauren Watkins and Angie Buettner and husband Scott; two great-grandchildren, William and Owen Buettner and his pride and joy, "Dutchess".
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Haskins Watkins, five siblings, John Kenneth Watkins Jr., Dorothy Watkins Horner, Joseph Benjamin Watkins, Mary Watkins Albrighton and Francis Watkins.
The family wishes to thank everyone at Community Home Care and Hospice, the nurses and staff at Durham Regional Hospital, Josephine Glover and Connell Williams for their loving care, and to all our family and friends for their prayers, visits, support and encouragement.
