Dr. Blackwell built the most remarkable childcare ministry in the Southeast, to the everlasting credit of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. But he did not do it alone. At his side through all his years as "Chief Encouragement Officer" was his own encourager, Kathy. We join Michael in thanking God for her life, and for her own ministry to him as his primary earthly support system.

Kathy Blackwell was a devoted partner to her wonderful husband Michael (Mickey) Blackwell in his commitment to children and the Baptist Childrens Homes of North Carolina. Their partnership led to great things for children and parents. What Dr. Blackwell accomplished publicly would not have been possible without the support so lovingly and quietly given by Kathy. They will both be remembered for their many good deeds in saving lives of the children. May God continue to bless this family of God in the days and years ahead.
