Otis Hooks Obituary

Reverend Otis T. Hooks, 75, of 1609 Jenks Carpenter Rd., died Saturday, July 23, 2005.
Rev. Hooks was born on October 9, 1929 to Townsend Hooks and Dessie Kight Hooks. He graduated from Soperton High School in 1947, later moved to Bartow, FL and met and marriedMildred Rhoden on August 18, 1950. Rev. Hooks served his country from 1952 to 1954 mostly in Germany. He was ordained to preach by Main Street Baptist Church in Bartow, FL in 1954. Rev. Hooks attended Brewton Parker Junior College in Mt. Vernon, GA and Mercer University, Macon, GA. In hislater years he attended Wake Forest Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. Rev. Hooks served several churches in Fl, GA, and NC. His latest church was Sorrell Grove Baptist Church.
Rev. Hooks owned and operated O T>s Family BBQ and Seafood Restaurant from1979 until 1995.
He was a unique person with many different talents. Most of all he loved his Lord and people. He wasvery much loved in return. His high school friends, college friends, and church members, kept in contact with him and will miss him greatly.
Rev. Hooks is survived by his wife, Mildred Rhoden Hooks; sons, Stacy O. Hooks and former wife, Cheri Megan, and Steve Hooks and wife, Virginia Anne; grandchildren, Nathan Hooks, Jesse Hooks, Ally Hooks, Daniel Langdon, and Whitney Langdon; sisters, Inez Hooks Rogers and husband, Felton of Vidalia, GA, and Alene Hooks Hall of Lyons, GA; and many nieces andnephews that really looked up to him and valued his advice.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 26, 2005 in the Fellowship Hall of Apex Baptist Church and at all other times at the home.
A funeral service will beheld 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at Apex Baptist Church. Reverends Phil Qualls, C. Paul Jones, and Gene Hiers will officiate. Burial will follow in Apex Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Apex Baptist Church Building Fund, 100 S. Salem St., Apex, NC 27502, or to Command Evangelism, 641 Walapai Dr. Fuquay Varina, NC 27526.
