Ralph Parker, 89, of Wilson and Oriental, died Thursday, July 4, 2013.
Funeral, Monday, 11:00 AM, Evergreen Memorial Park.
He was a founder and retired owner of Parker's BBQ.
Surviving is his wife, Betty Sasser Parker; daughter, Mary Carla Hollis of Raleigh and her children, Elliot and Aaron; son, Robert Fulghum and his partner, Marty Perry, of Sarasota, FL; sister, Janet Forvendel of Greenville; brother-in-law, Dr. Dwight Hare and his wife, Jaynie, of Starksville, MS and their children, Lee Carpenter (Caroline) and their two sons, Daniel and Nathan Hare; special friends, Christopher Hollis and Crystal Jackson.
The family will be at Wilson Memorial Service, 2811 Fieldstream Drive, Sunday, 5:30 – 7:30 PM.
Memorials are suggested to Carolina East Medical Center Foundation, 2000 Neuse Blvd, New Bern, NC 28561.

Remember Mr. Parker well. He had a house on the Neuse near my parents house. He was a generous man, sharing much of what he had with others. Dad always loved his "care packages" of Parker's BBQ and fixin's. RIP Ralph. You were a good man.

A stop at Parker's barbecue was worth a trip from the mountains...Mr. Parker will be missed...he was the king of Eastern Carolina barbecue...My prayers are with the family...
