Raleigh, North Carolina - Robert Edward Barefoot, 83, of Raleigh, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2021, surrounded by his family. Born in Harnett County on January 15, 1938, he was the son of the late Harvey Vinson and Ada Jackson Barefoot.
Robert was a 1956 graduate of Benson High School. He graduated from Atlantic Christian College in 1961 with a degree in Business Administration. He enjoyed a long career in office machine sales with Olivetti and Adler Royal. He was the retired owner of Automated Business Systems in Raleigh.
His dedication to his career was only exceeded by his love for his family, friends and church. He loved nothing more than a get-together with former classmates or family gatherings. His weekly visits to Hardee's with Paula and friends were the perfect way to start his week. GranBob was the title he cherished, and he looked forward to every moment he could spend with Coleman and Brooke. He was a loving, loyal and patriotic Southern gentleman who will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, James Barefoot, Warren Barefoot, Leon Barefoot and Johnnie Barefoot and his sisters Gladys Pope and Mavis Naylor and his son-in-law, David Pearce.
Robert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pauline (Paula) B. Barefoot; daughters, Paige Pearce Davis and husband, John of Louisburg; Natalie B. Comer and husband, Brad of Wendell; grandchildren, Coleman Pearce of Franklinton and Brooke Pearce of Raleigh; sisters, Annie Mae Pleasant of Raleigh; Judy Joyner and husband Mike of Fuquay Varina, sister-in-law Vivian B. Price of Enfield and many special nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church, Raleigh. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A burial will be held at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens, Wake Forest.
