It was a pleasure to meet Robert when I was involved in the Consortium for Research and Development on Supercritical Field Technology in Textile Processing. Great person and college.

Dr. Earnhardt and his lovely wife were my neighbors growing up in Charlottesville, Carrsbrook ct.They would pay me 25 cents a bucket to pickup acorns in their yard. Bob let me drive is VW Rabbit in his driveway. I almost hit the house, and that put an end to that haha. I loved their big green Ford LTD convertible. Great car. They always kept a box of toys for visiting children, when they came to dinner parties with their parents. Wonderful people that will be missed.

My deepest sympathies to the family of Dr. Bernhardt. He wanted me to go to PCTS in 1964, but I wasn´t able. In 1965 I drove with him and Shirl, over Christmas, to FL to see my Aunt and Uncle - his parents. " Bob" was my cousin, a better man will be hard to find. God Bless you .

The world lost a very good man! Bob was always so great to work with and just be around! He also passed away one day after my husband, Ralph Gordon so I hope they are enjoying each other's company in Heaven.

A true gentleman and a scholar. His enthusiasm and generosity in supporting colleagues' and students' efforts were constant. The confidence placed in his abilities by each organization in which he was involved are reflected in his successful record. He will be missed.

During my association with ITT and Milliken Bob affected my life and career in many ways. I always appreciated his counselling and advice. He was truly a mentor to the textile industry. He will be missed by all.

Dr. Barnhardt had the most friendly smile always. He was a great encouragement for students. I still picture him in the hall at Nelson.
