Ruth Bugg, a resident of Abbotswood at Stonehenge, Raleigh, NC, died October 3 from complications of lung diseases.
She was born on March 1, 1927 in Morrisville, North Carolina, daughter of the late Henri Tisdale Sears and John Lee Sears. After achieving the honor of valedictorian of her Green Hope School graduating class, Ruth graduated with honors from Meredith College. Post graduation she moved to Warrenton, NC to work in the N.C. State Extension Service. There she married William (Bill) Smithson Bugg and remained in North Carolina until her move to Denton, Texas in 2006 to be near her daughter, Fern. In anticipation of her daughter's move back to North Carolina, Ruth returned to North Carolina in 2011 and resided in Raleigh until her time of death.
Ruth is survived by sons, Albert Sears Bugg and William Smithson (Smitty) Bugg and his wife, Patty Bugg of Warrenton, NC; daughter, Fern Tisdale Bugg of Denton, Texas; and grandsons, Albert Sears Bugg,Jr. and William Smithson Bugg III.
She is preceded in death by her sister Roselle Featherston and brother John Lee Sears.
