Ryan Raymer Obituary

Ryan Raymer

March 11, 1976 - November 27, 2016

Apex

Ryan Raymer was killed in a single car auto accident early Sunday morning. In an instant he was removed from this world and transformed in the spirit to join his late brother Carson in the presence of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He leaves behind his son, Kaden, parents David and Sharon, his older brother Chris and younger brother David and wife Lauren and children.

Ryan was deeply spiritual, fiercely loyal, a defender of his faith, a poet, a musician, chef, author and philosopher. He was a member of the Raleigh Boychoir, Apex Baptist Church choirs and musical performances, Apex Middle School show choir, and numerous bands that brought his family and community hours of entertainment and joy. He was a graduate of UNC Wilmington, UNC and Panthers fan, and loved watching his brother David play baseball for LSU. But he was also plagued by depression and other psychological disorders that made it increasingly difficult for him. Looking back, we saw the signs of this, but figured it was Ryan being himself. Our regret is that we didn't address it and seek counsel earlier. Would've, could've, should've. Our comfort is that now he's at peace.

The family will receive friends at Apex Funeral Home on Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held the following day, Friday, December 2, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Apex Funeral Home with a private graveside service to follow.

Dear Sharon and David, I am deeply sorry for your losses . Life is just so hard to understand sometimes. I must applaud you for your honest and heartfelt obituary. There are just so many wonderful young people struggling with the overwhelming effects of depression. Your brave message of regret may very well encourage other struggling families to seek the help that they so badly need. My thoughts and prayers are with you,

Babs Wagner (mother of the Maack children)

There are few people I can honestly say that I only remember nice things about, and Ryan was most definitely one of them. Like many others, I have only seen Ryan a few times since High School... It just makes you want to force yourself to maximize life since you never know. His family is in my prayers.

To the Raymer family and to Ryan's friends and loved ones...

I cannot fully express how sorry I was to learn of Ryan's passing. When I did find out, my own grief was assuaged by my memories of Ryan, and there wasn't a single negative memory for me there.

From our time together in the Raleigh Boychoir to our year at Apex High School, Ryan's smile and good humor were contagious in the best possible way.

We lost touch after high school, but the handful of times we crossed paths over the years always resulted in us stopping what we were doing at the moment, talking and laughing the way that old friends do.

RIP Ryan, you will be missed.

Raymers,

My heart aches right now. I'm so sorry for your loss and I pray for your strength to find peace with Ryan's passing. Though I've been absent from most of the adult memories made with Ryan, I look back on the numerous childhood ones our families shared. Among them the Arkansas road trip, numerous dirt bike adventures at your house, and youth group retreats at Apex Baptist Church. I feel great regret for not keeping in touch as Ryan and I got older, but I'm at peace knowing that we are all connected through our faith in Jesus Christ and that right now he is walking side by side with Carson, eternally at peace. From all the Whitfill's I want you to know that we love you, and we're praying for you.

Dearest Raymer Family,

So sorry to learn of Ryan's death. I haven't seen Ryan since we graduated over 20 Years ago but that doesn't make his loss any easier to process. Prayers of peace and comfort for those he left behind.

Sharon, David, and family,
I remember carpooling and taking my Jason and your boys to Boychoir practices. Their voices sounded so angelic then, but now Ryan has gotten his forever angel voice. I know your hearts are heavy. We all hold your family up in prayer for peace in knowing that he is with Jesus and reunited with Carson. May God bless you with the wonderful memories of his precious life.

Sharon, David, Chris, and David and family, my heart aches for you at the loss of your beloved son and brother Ryan. When I think of the losses you have suffered, I remember Mother Teresa once said, "I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much." I know Ryan is at peace. Just know there are so many people who love you and grieve with you and are here for you.
