Sandra Peed Obituary

Sandra Day Peed

March 20, 1944 - June 12, 2025

Raleigh, North Carolina - Sandra Day Peed, 81, of Raleigh, NC passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 12th, 2025 with family at her side.

Sandra was born March 20, 1944 to George Robert Day and Janie Bowling in Oxford, NC and was the eldest sister to a brother, George Ivey Day. She graduated from Oxford High School in1962 and went on to earn her BS in Education from East Carolina University where she was a Delta Zeta. She taught school in Creedmoor where she met and married her husband, John Cullom Peed, and then stayed home to care for her two daughters. Later in her life, when her children were grown, she spent many days substitute teaching at Ravenscroft School in Raleigh.

Sandra was a lively, outgoing woman who did not know a stranger. She always went out of her way to make others feel welcome and loved, including her extensive family and her close friends. She was married to JC Peed for 53 years before he died in 2022 and spent the past 3 years staying busy with her grandchildren's activities in Chapel Hill and visiting her oldest daughter in Cleveland then Surfside beach. She was a beloved "Mimi" and never missed a single sporting event, school program, or special holiday. She was also an avid Wolfpack fan, attending both home and away football games for many years as well as home basketball games. She was an active member of Millbrook United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she will be greatly missed.

She is lovingly remembered her children Kristen Ludwig (Danny) of Surfside Beach, SC and Ivy Pointer (Joey) of Chapel Hill; and grandchildren, Chandler, Liam, and Cullom of Chapel Hill.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Sandra's memory to Transitions LifeCare who took care of her in her final month (https://www.transitionslifecare.org/donate/).

A service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, June 17th at 2 p.m. at Millbrook United Methodist Church.

I sold JC and Sandra their home many years ago. I have such fond memories of them. I was able to stay in touch with Sandra over the years.

Sandra was a dear friend of mine from years ago. She was a classmate of my husband all their school years. She will be missed by all that knew her.
