My wife Jo and I would like to express our condolences on the passing of Professor Emeritus T. Jack Sheets to his wife Marie, daughters Susan and Nancy, brother Bob and sister Jean, grand children and other members of the family. Jack was one of the friendliest, most cooperative and competent of the colleagues and scientists that I worked with as a member of the NC State University faculty. Jack was not only an expert on the fate and behavior of pesticides in soils, plants and the environment, but he also served as President of the Weed Science of America and as Chairman of many professional scientific committees. He was especially helpful to me when he served as Secretary of the Weed Science Society of North Carolina and I was serving as President. I will always be indebted to Jack for assisting me in my efforts to secure my position as a member of the faculty at NC State University. He was a man's man, an old soldier so to speak, and I always enjoyed working with him on graduate committees and other university activities. All of us who knew him will miss him greatly as will hundreds of the worlds scientific community who knew him and worked with him.
Signed: NC State University Professor Emeritus Jerry Weber and wife Jo.

Dr. Sheets was my graduate advisor at NCSU from 1976-78. I appreciated all that he did for me at the time, and for his interest in my career and family in the years to follow. We shared Asheville as a hometown, and he and my dad were classmates at NCSU. My deepest sympathies to you, Marie, and Nancy and Susan. His love for his family was always visible to those around him. He will be missed.

I am a co-worker of Nancy Thomas. Her father sounds like a fine, outstanding man...and he surely was because it shows in his daughter. She has a wonderful work ethic, caring spirit and loving personality. I know that came from her parents. Loss is always hard, I know he will be missed by ALL his family and friends. Sincere condolences, Sarah C. Loftin, TMS

Marie,
I'm sorry that I will be unable to attend the memorial service for Jack today. He was one of my favorite professors on campus. We worked together very well. We went back to the days when we traveled with Dr. Fulton Lutz. I know that Jack will be greatly missed by his family. Larry Nelson, Statistician

So sad to hear of the loss of your father, Susan and your grandfather, Jeff. He was a wonderful person for my grandson, Jackson, to be named after.

I worked with the Dept. of Agriculture at N C State in the late 60's, and often delivered or picked up reports from Dr. Sheets at his lab on Hillsborough Street.I never saw him without a smile on his face. God be with the family of this dear man.

I think I first met Jack and Marie in 1977, if my memory serves, when my husband and I first moved to Raleigh. My husband Jack was beginning graduate school, and I was expecting our first son, and doing alterations out of our tiny duplex on Trinity Road. Jack and Marie were so kind to us, and for years whenever we'd run into them, were so interested in what was going on in our lives. That speaks for the kind of people they are. Jack Sheets was truly a wonderful person.
