Wallace Andrew Blanton, 86, of 220 S.E. Maynard Road, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at The Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro, NC.
Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Doris Johnsey Whitley Blanton and was the son of the late Andrew Vinesett Blanton and Janie Wilson Blanton. Mr. Blanton was formerly the director of technical services for Cotton, Inc., later served as a consultant for the company, and was a member of several textile associations. He was a U. S. World War II veteran and member of First Baptist Church in Cary, NC.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Wallace Whitley Blanton and wife, Nancy, of Marion, NC and Timothy Andrew Blanton and wife, Carol, of Portland, Oregon; a sister, Elizabeth Allen of Gaffney; a granddaughter, Melissa Elliott and husband, Michael; a great-granddaughter, Audrey Elliott. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Blanton, two brothers, Gary Blanton and Rush Blanton and a sister, Jenny McCraw.
Cryptside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cryptside.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Hospice of Wake County, Inc., 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
