Beverly Osborne
Beverly (Bev) Jean (MacPherson) Osborne, 95, of Southbury, beloved wife of Alfrado (Oz) Osborne, died on August 1st, at Regional Hospice in Danbury. She was born in Brocton, MA on May 27, 1929, daughter of the late Frederick and Mildred (Reed) MacPherson. In 1943, the family moved to Danbury, CT where she was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1947. Bev and Oz owned and operated Ossie's Bar and Grill on South Street in Danbury for 30 years.
Bev's amazing love story with Oz began their sophomore year at Danbury High School in 1945. They were married on September 3, 1949 at St. Joseph Church in Danbury and renewed their vows in 1999 while celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in Europe on board the Norwegian Sky Cruise Ship. They enjoyed many years together while living in Danbury, Cape Cod, MA, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea and The Villages in Florida, and Southbury, CT. She was a great wife and mother who loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Beverly was one of nine children and became an important caregiver. She loved the beach, always had a tape measure in her sizable and always colorful pocketbook. She loved to knit sweaters, and her sewing machine came to life often, mending clothes but especially making curtains.
She will be greatly missed by her three sons, Alfrado ("Skip") Osborne and his wife Sheila, Gary Osborne and his wife Karen, and David Osborne and his wife Kathy; her four grandchildren, Jessie McHeffey and her husband Brendan, Nicole Osborne and her husband Steve, Kendra Bwinika and her husband Danny, and Quinn Osborne; and five great-grandchildren, Maddie, Noah, Adonai, Nova, and Soleia. She was predeceased by her husband Oz, her daughter, Debbie, her brothers Robert, Ralph, Norman, Donald, Kenneth and Carlton MacPherson and her sisters, Dorothy Dixon and Ruth Bidwell. In addition to her family, Bev had numerous friends who knew of her huge heart and kindness to all.
Her grandchildren have many cherished memories including judging beauty pageants together, gift shopping at the Cape, going to Disney, and Christmas was always a special day in her home filled with many expertly wrapped gifts, and often said that "you need to always have something to look forward to"
Beverly always said she was thankful for her family and we are all eternally grateful for such a kind, loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother.
A private graveside service was held at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Contributions in her honor may be made to the charity of your choosing.
