We originally met Carl Dunham over 25 years ago with conflicting interests, but soon felt a kindred spirit and affection for Carl after getting to know him and his collaborative approach to all his endeavors and personal interactions.

Carl (and Nancy too of course) have always been so gracious and open in sharing the magic that resides in the land they've both worked so selflessly to enhance and share with the community. Candlelight Farms is a place and experience my (then) young daughter was fortunate enough to experience during the countless hours spent there, and it (as well as the memory of Carl) will always be apart of our family.

Don’t think we’ll ever look over to that magnificent property, and not expect to see Carl happily riding on his tractor or planning some new project, and even if he’s not there physically, he’ll always be with us in spirit while folks will continue to appreciate the beautiful legacy and philosophy he worked to cultivate an impart.

Goodbye my friend Carl, and wishing Nancy, Chris & Family peace in what is a most difficult time.

Carl was truly one of the kindest and gentlest souls I've ever known. He would stop to chat with me no matter what was going on. Always a smile and many good chats we had over the years. We were blessed by his wonderful mountain and to live right close to his beloved horses. Pete and I will miss you very much, as will many other people. I know that Heaven gained a Wonderful Angel. Heaven is now blessed with you Carl. Until we meet again our great friend~

Carl was the Greatest person to have as a neighbor. He and his wife, Nancy, were always gracious and delightful. I always saw him out around his farm and house doing things to keep up with the property. It was a pleasure to have known him. He will be missed by many. His love was immense and given always.

He was our neighbor for 32 years.
A kind and gentle man who always greeted us with his warm smile and a hug. We will miss glansing out the window and seeing him mowing the fields. He had such a deep connection with this land & community where he devoted his life. His spirit will always be a part of this beautiful mountain.

We'll miss you Carl.
From our first day on the mountain as neigbors almost 25 years ago, Carl's been a huge presence in our lives. He truly was one of a kind, a modern day gentleman farmer. He'd never fail to greet us with a smile, a hug and some friendly chatter and was always thinking and planning something, giving us the updates of the goings on in and around New Milford. He grew up as a boy in our house and helped us with innumerable secrets about our old place, including unclogging a hidden drain pipe in our backyard to stop the flooding a few months ago! We'll miss the waves from his tractor, the friendly drop bys and his forever smiling face! It's a big loss. All our love to Nancy and the family.

I knew Carl throughout my 42 year career in Real Estate as an agent and Broker/Owner. He was one of my "go to" people for advice, information, legal conversations, chat, jokes, stories, and then some. He never not made time for me on the phone or if I dropped in to his office on the Green. His laugh got me going when he knew I was down. His love of the Town of New Milford and his Candlelight Farms property were amazingly solid and thoughtful. He was funny, sincere, whole hearted and willing to help. Bless him, and Nancy, and all he contributed to the Town of New Milford and his neighbors and friends. He will be missed, but not forgotten. Give it a rest, Carl!
