Gene F. Cassavechia
Gene F. Cassavechia, a longtime resident of New Fairfield passed away peacefully with his family at his side, on March 6. 2025, at the age of 82. He was the beloved husband of Anne J. Cassavechia of 61 years.
Born on March 27, 1942, in Norwalk, CT, he was the son of the late Geno and Rose Cassavechia. Gene grew up attending Catholic schools and was a graduate of both Fairfield Preparatory and Fairfield University.
Gene was a dedicated father who lived the core values of hard work, service and community engagement. He was a member of the Jaycees, Knights of Columbus, Regional Hospice and perhaps his most enjoyable activity was his commitment to coaching Town and CYO basketball. Gene led the "Nuggets" to many wins and is remembered to this day for his fervor in coaching. Gene was an avid bocce player and dedicated New York Yankee fan. Gene proudly founded and operated "GFC CPA" an accounting and personal investment firm.
Gene enjoyed spending time with his wife Anne and family in Gloucester, MA and Rhode Island. These family gatherings brought Gene and his family some of their fondest memories.
Gene was predeceased by his brother: Donald Casavecchia.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his daughters, Deborah Feldman (Andrew), Amanda Riley (Paul) and sons, Matthew Cassavechia (Christine) and Jason Cassavechia (Tracy), eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. Gene also leaves behind his youngest brother Anthony "Tony" Cassavechia (Denise).
The family would like to thank the providers that cared for Gene. We are forever grateful and appreciative.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at St. Edward the Confessor Church, New Fairfield, with the Rev. Robert Wolfe, Pastor, officiating. A private burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery, New Fairfield.
