Richard A. Day
Richard A. Day, age 85, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Clemson Downs.
Born February 5, 1933 in Canaan, CT, he was a son of the late Luther W. and Raymonde L. Day. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Norman R. Day. Richard graduated from Paul Smith's College. He proudly served in the submarine service of the United States Navy. He was a retired Captain from the Connecticut State Police, had worked for McCoy Construction in Myrtle Beach, SC, and as a private detective and hypnotist with a private practice in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Richard is survived by his wife, Sally H. Day; son, Mark A. Day; daughters, Kathi L. Heater (William) and LuAnne D. Hamilton (David); nine grandchildren, Brendan (Erin), Jenny (Dennis), Devin, Cullen, Clay, Joshua (Michelle), Jacob (Amy), Jordan (Lynette), and Faith and nine great-grandchildren, Tyler, Taylor, Timothy, Austin, Allyn, Reagan, Bennett, Jack, and Paige.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 at Sherman Congregational Church in Sherman, CT. Interment will be in Coburn Cemetery, Sherman, CT.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 4124 Clemson Boulevard, Suite L, Anderson SC, 29621; or to Providence Hospice, 202 Wall Street, Piedmont, SC 29673.
