Michael M. Vasquez

Michael M. Vasquez, age 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2024 with his loving family at his side.
Michael was born May 1, 1949 in Ottawa, Illinois, to the late Manuel G. Vasquez and late Maria D. (Alonzo) Vasquez. Michael is survived by Josephine, his loving wife of 50 years; his adoring children, Nicolina M. (T.J.) Tieman of Ladd, IL, Miguel M. Vasquez of Peru and Edward A. Vasquez of Des Moines, Iowa; and grandchildren Zachary M. Tieman, Samuel T. Tieman and Cailida Jo Vasquez. He also leaves brothers, Manuel J. (Teresa) Vasquez of Hazel Crest, IL, Larry A. (Trina) Vasquez of Wheaton, IL and John T. (Jennye) Vasquez of Burr Ridge, IL; and a sister, Felisa V. (Tony) Lopez of Plainfield, IL; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Michael was a graduate of Joliet Township High School, class of 1967. After high school, Michael enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam era and was honorably discharged. After returning home from the Army, Michael began working for Commonwealth Edison, where he was an electrician at the Dresden Plant, retiring after many years of service. Michael was an avid White Sox and Chicago Bears fan and always enjoyed going to White Sox games whenever he could.
Michael was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be dearly missed.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Thursday, October 10th at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM with Monsignor Mark Merdian officiating. Services will conclude with Military Honors by the Ottawa American Legion Post 33 Honor Guard.
