ALLAN RUBIN Obituary

RUBIN, ALLAN RICHARD Allan Richard Rubin, age 90, passed peacefully in his home the morning of February 26 and is now reunited with his son Steve, his wife Carol, and the rest of his family. Allan is survived by his son’s Arnie, Lew, Larry, and grandchildren Jackie, Richard, Jake, Alyssa, and Aaron, and his beloved wife’s daughters Debbie and Donna. Allan was an active man who was full of life. Allan, an avid fisherman, started his days 5:00am or earlier aboard the Ancient Mariner (his beloved boat) on Long Island Sound in search of “working” birds, a sure indicator the bluefish were nearby, or combing the bottom for porgies when the birds and bluefish were taking a rest. During the winter, Allan braved the cold to channel his energies into his passion for ice fishing. He sought out small fish as they are much tastier than their larger counterparts. Until his last days, he often said he had no use for the big fish. Allan founded Allan Rubin Arbor homes, the largest builder of single family homes (on individual lots) in the US. Allan was an Eagle Scout and proud that he could recite all the birds in the Eagle Scout Manual. He lived by the Scout Law. Allan was instrumental in promoting fitness by starting a running club in the early 1960’s based in New Haven, and was responsible for the installation of tennis courts in New Haven’s Edgewood Park. Allan never complained, treated others with respect, and lived life with integrity and honor. Allan (our dad) may you once again sail the seas in heaven...
