Antonio Colasanto Obituary

Colasanto, Antonio "Tony"
Antonio "Tony" Colasanto of Hamden, CT peacefully passed on Monday, January 11, 2021. Tony was a loving Husband, Father and Grandfather, as well as a successful business leader, and proud employer in the Downtown New Haven Community. Tony was born on May 1, 1950 to the late Donato and Pasqualina Colasanto in the Town of Castelpagano, located in the Benevento Province of Southern Italy. He moved to the United States as a teenager and settled in Hamden, CT. While attending Hamden High School, Tony worked on nights and weekends as a pressman, where he began to learn the printing skills and trade which would later become his calling and livelihood. Soon after high school graduation, Tony was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he served as a Lithographic Printer, producing maps at Ft. Bragg, NC. Through his Honorable Military Service, Tony became a Naturalized U.S. Citizen. Following his discharge from the Army, Tony returned to Connecticut and founded MinitPrint (presently DocuPrintnow) in New Haven where, over the next fifty years, Tony established his family business which emphasized Product Quality, Service Excellence and Community Engagement. Tony enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren, and over the years he and his lovely wife Alberta embarked together on numerous motorcycle road trips to explore the many regions of the United States. His calm, gentle and caring demeanor, together with his tremendous professional knowledge, and experience in the printing industry, made Tony an extraordinary teacher and mentor to many. He will be dearly missed. In addition to Alberta, Tony is survived by his daughter Cristina and Christopher Haynes, grandchildren Cecilia (10) and Harrison (6) of Yarmouth, ME; daughter Francesca Colasanto and Eduardo Valdes, grandchildren Angelina (10) and Olivia (1) of Guilford, CT; and brother Nicola Colasanto of Hamden, CT. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven, CT in early spring. Arrangements have been entrusted to Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven.
