MERK, BARBARA L. Barbara L. Merk, age 66, passed away on August 30, 2014 at Evergreen House Health Center in East Providence, RI. Born in Greenwich, CT on February 11, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Edna (Sexton) Merk. Ms. Merk grew up in Woodbridge, CT and lived for many years in Exuma, Bahamas. She worked in publishing and real estate and most recently developed property in the Bahamas where she resided. She enjoyed travelling, cooking, and celebrating the joys of life wherever she was. She is survived by two daughters, Sara Dionne and Jenny Cellar, both of Portsmouth, RI; her brother Howard Merk of Connecticut, her sister Toby Merk of Vermont; her grandchildren Piper Dionne, Cole Cellar, Rafe Dionne, Casey Cellar, Beckett Dionne, and Phynix Dionne. The family wishes to extend their thanks to At Home Senior Care, the Evergreen House, and Home and Hospice for their excellent care throughout her illness. Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 11:00am in the United Congregational Church, 524 Valley Road, Middletown, RI.
