CLIFFORD SILVERS

Clifford Silvers, 77, of Milford, CT. Devoted husband of the late Evelyn Silvers, died at Yale New Haven Hospital on April 10th, 2017 with his family by his side. Clifford was born in the Bronx, NY on July 9th, 1939. He was the son of the late Ely and Fay (Newman) Silvers. Clifford and Evelyn were married for 56 years. Clifford was the beloved father of Stacy Carlo (Rick) of Milford and Scott Silvers (Claudia) of Stamford and cherished grandfather (Pop Pop Cliff or Pop Pop) of Megan, Arianna and Juliette and brother of Alan Silvers (Eleanor) of Holiday, Florida. Clifford was a graduate of Southern CT State University and began his teaching career in Bridgeport but after 5 years he began his long illustrious career at the CT Education Association (CEA) where he dedicated his life fighting for teachers rights in the state of CT. He participated in protests, sit-in's and his presence at the state legislature was legendary. His CEA colleagues were his second family and he continued to serve as an arbitrator subsequent to retiring in June 2004. Clifford was an avid sports fan of the NY Football Giants and the NY Mets. Nothing gave him more pleasure then a Giants Super Bowl Victory. He relished his many close friends but it was his family that he cherished the most. Funeral services will be held at Congregation Or Shalom, 205 Old Grassy Hill Rd. Orange, CT Friday April 14th at 10:30AM with interment services to follow at the Or Shalom Cemetery 80 Farwell St. West Haven, CT. A period of mourning will be observed at the home of Clifford Silvers at 180 Carmen Road Milford, CT on Saturday April 15th, 6:30PM-8:00PM.
