David Mario Longobucco was born on August 18, 1930 in Litchfield, CT to Rose (Cardamone) Longobucco and Joseph Longobucco, and passed away peacefully at the skilled nursing unit of Evergreen Woods in North Branford, CT on January 18, 2026 after a brave and valiant fight with multiple medical problems. He lived a full and meaningful life and touched the lives of so many people. To his family, he was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. At the same time, he was a highly respected and accomplished professional, a wise and humble leader, a generous volunteer, and a loyal friend. Into each of these roles David poured his heart, his intellect, and his energy, enriching all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Growing up, David was actively involved in many aspects of his school, community, and college life. He is a 1949 graduate of Torrington High School.
He graduated from Trinity College in 1953 with a degree in History, Government and Education and earned a MA degree from Columbia University in History and Political Science. He also did course work at Fairleigh Dickinson University, University of Connecticut and Dartmouth College.
David honorably served his country in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in Fort Dix and received an honorable discharge in 1955. After discharge from the service, he was briefly employed by Dun and Bradstreet of NYC before starting his 30-plus year career with Chesebrough-Ponds in the accounting department retiring in 1988 as the General Credit manager in Financial Service. In 1959 Dave relocated the family from New Jersey to Madison, Connecticut where they had purchased land to build their home and raise their growing family. They remained in this home for 64 years until their move to Evergreen Woods in North Branford last year.
Retirement was not a time to slow down and along with the many activities that he and his wife Betty Ann shared, David continued with his volunteer roles at the First Congregational Church in Madison as well as his active membership with the Madison Lions Club, Madison Archives, Madison Community Services and the Madison Interfaith Residential Community, receiving many awards and accolades.
David loved his church of over 60 years and served in many executive capacities at First Congregational Church of Madison including Deacon, Chair of Church Council, Church Treasurer, Secretary of Trust Funds & Investments Committee as well as Treasurer of the Memorial Garden Committee. He also served on four pastoral search committees for the church. His church and church family were a big part of his life.
He leaves behind his wife of 72 years, Elizabeth (Reichenberg) Longobucco; his three children, Randall of Windsor, CT, Adrienne Andrews (Geoffrey), of South Windsor, CT and Arden Bradley, (A. James), of Stuart FL; 3 grandchildren-Alexandra Bradley (Nashville, TN), Kendall Bradley (Sydney Australia) and Tyler Machowski (Coventry CT); and sister-Rita Samber (Denver CO) and various cousins in the Torrington, CT area.

The family wishes to thank Evergreen Woods Skilled Nursing, Rehab and Memory Care units as well as Connecticut Hospice for the excellent care he received.
