Edwin Mongillo Obituary

Edwin L. Mongillo
Edwin "Eddie" Mongillo entered into eternal rest on June 15, 2025. Ed, age 59, of North Haven, was a devoted father to Makayla And Lylah, a loving brother to Joseph (Sandy) Mongillo Jr. of Niantic and sister, Maria (fiancé Vinny Bockius) Mongillo of West Haven, and a cherished husband to Linda Loewenthal Mongillo. Ed is also survived by several nieces, nephews, three grandnephews and many brother and sisters-in-law.
Ed passed away at YNHH on Father's Day, June 15, 2025, surrounded by family. His daughters, Makayla And Lylah, had the opportunity to say their final goodbyes and Linda was by his side until the end.
Ed was born on November 19, 1965, to his beloved parents, Joseph and the late Carol Wonneberger Mongillo. He attended St. Louis School and graduated from Platt Technical High School in 1984. Ed was a proud member of the sheet-metal union Local number 40 and Hamden Elks Lodge number 2224. He worked for many years at Air Dynamics in North Haven and also worked independently, forming close relationships with many clients who considered him as a friend or even part of their family.
Ed had a lifelong passion for sports, especially boating, golf and softball. He played baseball for the Westshore league in West Haven when he was younger and, as he grew older, he enjoyed playing softball for various teams.
Ed believed in living life to the fullest, whether cheering on the UCONN men's or women's basketball teams, the Yankees, the Steelers or traveling with his family to the Caribbean for beach adventures. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, Linda, and watching their daughters grow, bringing him endless pride, joy and happiness. Whether it was coaching Makayla's softball team to bring them to win the championship or watching Lylah horseback riding, Ed was always present and supportive.
Friends and family are invited to visit at MARESCA & SONS Funeral Home, 592 Chapel St., New Haven, on Saturday, June 21, from 3 to 6 PM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of sending flowers, we ask that you consider donating directly to his family to support an education fund for Makayla (Ole Miss in the fall!) and Lylah – in memory of Ed. Donations can be made directly through:venmo @ Linda-Mongillo or Zelle Linda Mongillo (203)-530-2001.
