Laureen "Laurie" Mongillo
Laurie Mongillo passed away on Dec. 24, 2025, Christmas Eve Day after a determined fight against pancreatic cancer. She was born in New Haven Feb. 2, 1942, daughter of the late Nicholas and Marie Consiglio Bolognese. Laurie graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 1964 but always described herself as a Sacred Heart Academy girl. While at Southern, Laurie met Joe Mongillo, who would become her loving husband of 61 years.
Laurie worked briefly as a kindergarten teacher before spending decades as the heart and soul of the New Haven Medical Association. She and Joe lived together in North Branford where they raised their family, and where she volunteered her time and energy at the town libraries. She loved the New York Yankees, Frank Sinatra, and a good glass of wine.
Besides her husband, she leaves behind three daughters, Ellen Beth (Andy) Acampora, Sharon (Mark) Paturzo, and Melissa (David) Goldsmith, as well as a son Joseph (Christine Gambin) Mongillo and her little dog Toby. Laurie was predeceased by her eldest son Christopher. We will all miss her every day.
If you knew Laurie, she was probably one of your dearest friends and a person you knew you could turn to for wisdom and advice. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you listen and be kind to a friend in need.
Friends are invited to go directly to St. Augustine's Church 30 Caputo Rd. North Branford on Monday Dec. 29, 2025, to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
