Eileen Console
Eileen B. Console, 65, departed this life on June 10, 2024 at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
She was born in New Haven on March 1, 1959 to the late Andrew and Aeline (Porto) Console.
Eileen was a decorated veteran of the US Navy, having earned the National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal.
Eileen was loved by many and she had numerous friends from various walks of life. One of her biggest loves was Ray of Light Farm in East Haddam, where Emily, the donkey, lived. Emily was one of the highlights of Eileen's life and she saw her almost every week while attending the farm's equine wellness program for veterans. She generously contributed to the farm and was enthusiastic about spreading its message of rescuing horses, donkeys, and other farm animals. In addition to Emily, Eileen loved her dog Oliver, who she rescued from a neglectful situation. When she could no longer care for Oliver, her friend Jackie gave him a home and they shared custody. Eileen's love of fishing kept her outdoors as much as possible and she was a member of the "Take a Vet Fishing" group. She was involved in all types of veterans groups and activities and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW (past commander). She loved her country and served in the United States Navy with pride. And lastly, Eileen's passion for food and cooking was unrivaled in her circle of friends and acquaintances. Her love of cooking and her skill at it were unmatched. She always provided excellent food for events and it gave her great pleasure when everyone enjoyed her food. Eileen's friends and family would like to thank the Veterans Hospital, Wallingford Dialysis Center, Gaylord Physical Therapy, and all of her home health aides for the patient and attentive care they always gave her.
Eileen is survived by her brothers William Console (Karen) and John Console (Georgianna); nieces Sarah and Jennifer, great-nephew Blake and great-nieces Sierra and Liliana; numerous cousins and special friends Jeannie MacDonald, Lisa Fargnole, and Jackie Mickiewicz.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 19th from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 South Elm St., Wallingford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 20th at 11:30 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church, 155 Washington St., Middletown. All are asked to meet directly at the church on Thursday. Interment with military honors will follow at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery.
