Ralph J. Console Jr., 78, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at his home with his loving family by his side after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of 36 years to Lorraine Colavolpe Console. Ralph was born in New Haven on February 10, 1945, and was the son of the late Ralph Console Sr. and Grace Alvino Console. He had worked as a self-employed carpenter for many years. Ralph was a member of the Saint Andrew's Men's Society, Pine Grove Men's Club and was a retired West Haven Volunteer Fire Fighter. He enjoyed gardening, cooking for friends and family, and never shied away from a good time. Ralph's greatest joy was being a "Papa" to his grandchildren who he loved unconditionally. Beloved father of Michael (Mary) Lucibello Jr., Tracey (Kevin) Sweeney, Ralph P. (Tracy) Console, and Teresa "Terry" Console. Loving Papa to Shannon, Joseph (Laura), and Sean (April) Sweeney, Ashley (Chris) Witkins, Isabella, Emily, and Nicolas Console. Great-Papa of Charlie and Jack Sweeney, Jack, and Owen Witkins. Brother of Antoinette Proto, Dolores DePalma and the late Louise Ristaino. Also survived by many special nieces, nephews, and friends too numerous to mention, who he loved so very much.
The visiting hours will be on Friday morning, March 31st from 8:30 to 11:30 AM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Devine Mercy Parish at St. Rita's Church, 1620 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, at 12 noon. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
