I was a very young 11 years old when I went to Grove School from the North Shore of Chicago. I was there for a year and a half, 1980-81. I have so many vivid memories of that time, I am 55 now.
One memory was when Mrs. Davis took me clothes shopping before going on vacation with my Mom & Sister. A BIG deal!!! She & Jack were such characters!
Jack would have this special way of raising the pitch of his voice and say, "Hel--EN!" It was a LoVe Call, I will say now, all these years later;) Even at such a young age I could tell they had a special connection.
Although I was sent to Grove, involuntarily, as I believe many of my schoolmates were, also, I knew it was going to be alright with these two at The Helm.
I read Jack's obit first tonight, And now Helen's. I wish them both Peace in their Next Lives, I'm certain, as a 40 year practicing Buddhist, that they will be together, again, helping others find their way.
Blessings, Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo......Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo....Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo.....:)(:

I knew Helen Davis to be a wonderful person. Helen and Jack, together, gave me the extraordinary opportunity to take over the Grove School and thereby to build on their efforts; continuing their legacy of good works, through treatment and education, with an emphasis on the Arts and creativity.
Helen was a strong, determined, and fair-minded person who was always a pleasure to be around. I truly enjoyed getting to know her, and Jack, and their family over the last 35 years. Helen will be missed by her family, and her many friends and acquaintances.
