John Aurora Obituary
John Peter Aurora, Sr., 83, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. John was born October 4, 1940, to Peter and Mary Decilla Aurora in New Haven. He met his beloved wife, Barbara, in 1960. Barbara and John celebrated their 60th Anniversary on October 26, 2023. John is survived by sons, Gregory of North Haven, Gary (Monica) and John (Anna Lisa), both of Hamden. Also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Kyle, Jordyn, Alex, Carlos, Anthony and Alessandra. John graduated from UCONN 1962 School of Pharmacy. He was co-owner of Colonial Pharmacy in West Haven for 38 years, He and his wife, Barbara, traveled to many of the National Parks in the U.S. Also to Alaska and Nova Scotia. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and going to sporting events and Sunday dinners. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated, Tuesday, at 10 a.m., in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Entombment in All Saints Mausoleum. Calling hours are Monday, from 4 - 7 p.m. in Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden. John was a great guy to golf with. We were club brothers at Wallingford CC for many years. He was a tough competitor and always a sportsman. We would speak about how we were both sons of The Annex neighborhood. Speaking of the old neighborhood while we were at the pristine WCC, he once told me it's only 14 miles from here, but it as well be light years. We knew we were blessed to be there. RIP John.
