John Raccio Obituary

John R. Raccio, Sr.
August 8, 2023
John R. Raccio Sr., 83, of West Haven, entered into eternal rest on August 8, 2023, with his family by his side. He leaves his beloved wife of 57 years, Bette Rosini Raccio, and his sons, John Jr. (Lisa) and Michael Sr. (Nicole); 4 adored grandchildren, Dominic, Brianna, Gabriella and Michael Jr.; siblings, Barbara Pyszkowski (Ted), Joanne Dupee and Michael Raccio. John was predeceased by his parents, Pasquale and Annette D'Antona Raccio, his sister, Virginia Patrie, and brother, Anthony Raccio.
John proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany. For over 35 years, he owned and operated the former C.B. City of West Haven, which he established in 1976. In addition, he was a longstanding member of Teamsters Local #443 and the Allingtown Sportsmen's Club. John enjoyed watching Nascar Racing and was an avid follower of the UConn Women's Basketball team. Above all, he was a devoted family man. Regardless of the day or time, he attended all of his grandchildren's sports and activities, which included T-ball, softball, basketball, boys' and girls' hockey, and lacrosse.
The hours for visitation will take place on Sunday, August 13, from 3 to 6 p.m., at West Haven Funeral Home, 662 Savin Ave. On Monday morning, the procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Road, Orange at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven, with Military Honors. My sincere condolences to all of John Raccio´s family, especially Bette and his children. I grew up on the same street as John, we were neighbors, and it was never anything but kind. He always had kind words to say on anything that I posted on Facebook. He was just a very likable guy and will definitely be missed.
