Joseph Massaro Obituary

Joseph A. Massaro, Jr.
Joseph Anthony Massaro, Jr. peacefully passed away at his home on August 5, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born in New Haven on April 10, 1945, he was a son of the late Joseph A. Massaro, Sr. and Henrietta (Chilinski) Massaro.
Joseph graduated from Fairfield University in 1968. He pursued his love for sharing knowledge, and taught in Bridgeport and West Haven. In 1971, Joseph entered the family business at Genovese & Massaro, Inc., where he later became an owner. He was an "A" standing member of IBEW Local 90 for over 40 years. He was also a member of N.E.C.A.
Joseph will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Jo Ann Novello Massaro, his children, Andrea Massaro-Cavanaugh and Joseph A. Massaro, III, and son-in-law, Anthony Cavanaugh. He was the loving "Papa" to Natalie, Anthony Joseph ("A.J."), Andrew, and Augustus Cavanaugh. He also leaves a sister, Angela (Bob) Finkle, Rosemarie (Jack) Papa, Annamarie (Bill) Licamele, Alice Novello Cuniff, Sam (Mimi) Novello, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Massaro.
Friends are invited to a Memorial Mass celebrating Joseph's life on Monday, August 19th, at 12 p.m. in St. Paul VI Parish/Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Burial will be private. Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, is in care of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
