Michael P. Mattie was born in New Haven on December 11, 1979 and passed far too soon surrounded by friends and family after a brief and unexpected illness on May 2, 2024. Calling hours will be held at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Thursday May 9th, 4-7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel on Friday May 10th at 10 a.m. followed by a burial service at St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. Michael and I became friends when he was a hair stylist in Chicago a few years back. He used to cut my hair, and we would visit while he worked. Michael was an amazing listener and a warm, humble human being. We stayed in touch online when he moved out of Chicago. I just learned today--a year after the fact, almost to the day--of his untimely death. I am at a loss for words. My condolences to all who were close to him and who still grieve his loss. I will always remember his warm welcome and his kind heart. Rest in peace, my friend.
