I heard the news today oh boy. I never would have made it threw the Master's program had it not been for the patients and kindness of this gifted man. I am so very saddened. He will always live on in my heart. Till we meet again.

I am shocked and saddened to learn of Dr. Perlins passing. Knowing him only from presentation he gave which I attended (and learned much from!) he always made time to chat afterwards. Subsequently, he became my "go-to" resouce when I needed a neutral yet expert eye on a matter. He is missed.

I would like to extend my condolences to Dr. Perlin's family. Michael was my faculty advisor and professor in the MPH program at SCSU. He had an open door policy to students that allowed for easy conversation and advising. He had a unique engaging manner in the classroom. I enjoyed an easy rapport with Michael, and his smile exhibited a warmth that was genuine and heartfelt. After graduating in 2008, I maintained sporatic contact with Michael, and he was generous in providing recommendations for me in job interviews and my PhD application, even while he was dealing with his illness. Please know that Michael touched many hearts and minds over the years. I am sorry for your loss, and feel fortunate to have known him.

Dr. Perlin was my advisor and friend. We shared many long conversations about Bridgeport politics and life in general. He simply was one of the most interesting individuals I ever met. Although he made himself available and offered help to anyone in need, for me Dr. Perlin was at his best as an educator. He had this unique and natural sense of humor (he was very funny)in the classroom he combined learning with laughter making his class not only enjoyable but informative.
I would like to thank the family for the priviledge of knowing him.

Dr. Perlin meant so very much to me, and I know a lot of people looked up to him. He truly was one of a kind. He was there for me as a professor & mentor, but also as a dear friend. I cherish all of our time we had together, including his uplifting and inspiring emails. When my baby died, Dr Perlin gave me strength and peace. He will be missed greatly. I am devastated that he is gone. We kept in touch right up until he passed away. Sending peace and love to his family.

Elaine, Jared and Jordyn: We are so sad to learn of Michael's passing. The past few years we reconnected, sadly, because of the deaths of our parents. Clearly, he was a loving and accomplished person to the end and I know you will miss him greatly and always. Please know that his cousins and uncle in Texas are devastated upon learning of his death and hold you in our hearts and prayers. Cheryl Blissitte, Houston, Texas
