Nicholas K. Maratea
Nicholas K. Maratea, 25, of Hamden, passed away Sunday, July 24,2022 at his home. He is survived by his loving parents, Kenneth and Ellen Bednarcik Maratea of Hamden; a sister, Melanie Maratea of Boca Raton, FL; his maternal grandmother, Kathleen Bednarcik of Hamden; his paternal grandmother, Geraldine Tommaselli of North Haven; his paternal grandfather, Robert Maratea and his wife Gail of North Haven; uncles and aunts: John Bednarcik (Wendy), Karen Hunt (Jerry), Robert Maratea Jr. (Patti) and Michael Maratea (Cheryl); cousins : Shannon Hunt, Patrick Hunt, Liam Hunt, Stephen Maratea, Erin Landisio, Jessica Santore, Michael Maratea Jr., and Bryan Maratea. Also survived by many good friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, George Bednarcik. Nicholas was born Feb. 26,1997 in New Haven, was a graduate of Hamden High School and attended Gateway Community College. Growing up he participated in many sports, including baseball, basketball and soccer. He enjoyed going to the gym, boxing, and MMA sports. Nicholas was a kind, generous, compassionate, funny and empathetic soul who touched the lives of many. He was genuinely a kindhearted person with both his words and actions A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Hamden. Burial will be Private. Calling Hours at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden, will be Friday, July 29, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mental Health Connecticut, 61 South Main St, Suite 100, West Hartford, CT 06107. www.siskbrothers.com

Nick worked as an apprentice for my husband Ralph for a few years. We are so sad to hear of his passing. One of my favorite stories was when our cat was chasing a chipmunk in the gardens one summer morning and it ran up Nicks leg!
