Philip Luedee Obituary
Philip M. Luedee, longtime resident of New Haven, age 87, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2024 after a long battle with kidney disease.
Philip was born in New York City on September 27, 1936, the son of the late Charles P. Luedee and Julia Cotter Luedee. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances Esposito Luedee, daughter, Susan F. Luedee (Michael Bates), son Philip C. Luedee, grandchildren Alexander and Abigail Bates, sister Cathy Luedee Volpe and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Mary Louise Luedee O'Neill, Veronica Luedee, brothers Father Rene (Charles) Luedee and James Luedee.
Philip grew up in the Fair Haven section of New Haven. He attended St. Francis School and moved on to Wilbur Cross High School where he developed a passion for basketball that led to a scholarship to Quinnipiac College (now Quinnipiac University). He went on to enjoy a long career in the New Haven Parks and Recreation department retiring as the Deputy Director.
He delighted in the winter snow, observing nature and gatherings with family and friends. He was never short of a good story or a one liner about the many unique people in his life and their many adventures together. He was one-of-a kind with his charm, clever wit and answer to any question and will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a funeral Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Blessed Michael McGivney Parish in St. Michael's Church, 29 Wooster Place, New Haven on Monday, January 22. at 10 a.m. The service will be followed by graveside interment at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
