Reontina D'Atri Obituary

D’ATRI, REONTINA (RAE) INTILLI Reontina (Rae) Intilli D’Atri, a longtime resident of Madison, passed peacefully in her home on January 25. Born in Amsterdam, New York on April 5, 1923, daughter of Albert and Theresa Intilli, Rae was a resident of Madison for more than forty years. She was a dental hygienist in private dental practices as well as in CHCP for thirty years. Upon her retirement, Rae was an active volunteer in numerous organizations. Together with her husband, Herman, she was a cardiac patient advocate in Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven, a volunteer receptionist in the Yale New Haven Hospital, Goose Lane, Guilford, a weekly volunteer at the Watrous Nursing Home and Madison House and a volunteer and communicant of St. George Church in Guilford. Rae was devoted to her family, relatives and friends, cherishing many happy memories of birthday and anniversary celebrations as well as family reunions and tea with friends. She was an avid quilter whose sweet and cheerful demeanor was reputed to have originated with her having been “born with a smile on her face.” Predeceased by Herman, her loving husband of sixty-two years, Rae is survived by her children - Kathleen Bender, David and his wife Connie D’Atri and Nicolette Tucker, her grandchildren - Jamieson Bender and his wife Susan Hwang, Courtney and Jay D’Agostino, Justin and Ryan Tucker, Meryl and her husband Shane Staats and Hillary and her husband Anthony Solarino, and great grandchildren, Cayden Tucker and Austin and Parker Staats, as well as by nieces and a nephew. She is survived by her brother and his wife, Frank and Joan Intilli of Schenectady, New York, and was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Skinner. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 10am. Burial will take privately in Amsterdam, NY. Friends may call Jan. 31 from 5 – 8 pm at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Yale New Haven Hospital, Cardiac Heart Failure Program (CHFP) at Yale New Haven Hospital, 20 York St., New Haven, CT 06510 or to St. George Church, Youth Program, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford, CT 06437. I am so sorry to hear of Rae's passing. I worked with her at CHCP and Herman officiated our marriage ceremony. They both will greatly missed. I will always have fond memories of meeting Rae shopping . She was always so gracious and smiling. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I worked with Rae at CHCP for many years in the dental department. We have never had a staff member who was as well liked and respected as Rae. Although I had not seen her in many years, the news of her passing deeply saddened me. Rae was a wonderful person and I only have very fond memories of her.....my deepest condolences to her family.
