Rita Quick Obituary

Rita Burns Quick
March 2, 2024
Rita Burns Quick, a cherished resident of Guilford, CT for over 50 years, passed away peacefully on March 2nd, 2024. She departed surrounded by her beloved family and devoted husband after bravely battling Cancer for 28 years.
Rita illuminated the world with her warmth, kindness, and was an exceptional mother and "Nannie." She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Mary (Moran) Burns, her brother Lester Burns, Sr., and his wife Shirley (Kamm) Burns, and brother-in-law Kevin Rogers. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Arthur Quick, her sister Susan Burns Rogers, and brother David and Lorraine (Owens) Burns. Rita's legacy continues through her children: Kenneth and Cheryl (Mann) Quick of North Haven, CT, and their sons Owen and Jack; Paula (Quick) and Jeffery Heser of Clinton, CT, and their children Kam and Louis; Brian and Christine (Sousa) Quick of Franklin, MA, and their children Samuel, Julia, and Audrey. Family meant everything to her, especially her seven grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she cherished.
Rita was a graduate of West Haven High School and dedicated herself to her children's education, serving as PTA President. She later embarked on a 30-year career at Lester Telemarketing in Branford. Rita and Art enjoyed winters in Jupiter, Florida, they enjoyed fishing off their dock and spending time with friends.
In retirement, she embraced her role as "Nannie Quick," sharing her passion for cooking, family gatherings, travel, and card games. Rita was a familiar face at her grandchildren's sporting events and school activities, always cheering them on with unwavering support.
Above all, Rita was fiercely loyal, exceptionally generous, and loved her family with all her heart. She encouraged her loved ones to pursue their passions and take pride in their achievements.
The Quick/Heser family extends heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming support and care received, especially from the doctors and nurses who cared for Rita over the past 28 years. While Rita's physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit of love and dedication to family will endure in our hearts forever.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during calling hours on Saturday, March 9th, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m at Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church Street, Guilford. Per Rita's wishes, there will be no funeral service; instead, a celebration of her life will be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Closer to Free Fund, Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven, PO Box 1849, New Haven, CT 06508-9979 https://www.rideclosertofree.org/ To share a memory or leave condolences, visit www.guilfordfuneralhome.com
