SEARS, ROBERT LESLIE “BURNS” In Branford on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, Robert Leslie Sears “Burns”, 59, of Branford, formerly of Guilford, passed away peacefully after a short illness at CT Hospice in Branford. Bob was the loving husband of Susann Sears, and loving and devoted father to Emily Sears both of Branford. Bob was born on August 7, 1955 in Portland, ME, son of the late Richard Burtt Sears and Eleanor Leslie Sears. In addition to his wife and daughter, he also leaves his brother Richard W. Sears of Killingworth and his niece Ashley E. Sears of Branford. Bobby was a graduate of Mitchell College and also attended SCSU and played soccer at both colleges. He had refereed soccer for many different age groups and umpired softball games in various leagues throughout the shoreline area for many years. He was also an avid Yankee fan. Additionally, Bob’s sense of humor and extraordinary athletic ability will be sorely missed by those that shared the softball diamond and soccer pitch as well. He was quite a guy and those who knew and loved him were blessed, and he will be deeply missed. Friends may call Sunday, March 15 from 4 to 8pm at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 16 at 10:30am in the Guilford Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Route 1, Branford.
