Sonya M. Lockery, 52, of West Haven, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019. She was born in New Haven on August 5, 1967 and was the daughter of Robert and Mary Lockery, Sr. Sonya was known for her big heart. She was loving and caring to all her family, especially her daughter and granddaughter whom she adored. Mother of Jessica Lockery. Grandmother of Lilyana Lockery. Sister of Robert (Tanya) Lockery Jr. and Christopher (Chery) Lockery.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue have been entrusted with the arrangements. www.northhavenfuneral.com

Sonya, I am so so sad in my heart to hear of your passing and even more saddened for your family.
My Sincere & and Heartfelt Condolences and prayers are with your family. What a beautiful person and friend you were to me. We shared so many laughs and even tears together when we were younger and you were always there when I needed a friend. Mr & Mrs Lockery and family you have my deepest sympathy. Sonya, you were a beautiful woman and great friend. I will treasure the memories of the great times we shared. We had great times playing softball and wonderful times at St. Michael's. One silly memory I recall is when we ran from Mr De Martino and hid behind a tree until he walked back in school. All we wanted that day was some Country Kitchen and to watch the Price is Right. We had good times working at Central Cleaners, too. So many fun times. I remember the day I did your hair and makeup for prom. You looked so beautiful and happy. I will remember your beautiful smile and miss you so much. Rest easy my beautiful friend. Love you, Renee

I usually am never at a loss when it comes to the written word...but I find myself numb. To realize that one will never again see dear Sonya... never see her radiant smile when she greeted you. Watching her interact with friends and family. I am particular saddened by the fact we shared a little granddaughter Lili...I will miss her because Lili will miss her so much. You never get used to the loss of a loved one. We take for granted their presence among us, and I for one regret I never got to know Sonya on a deeper level. Where she may be gone physically, I know she is still with her family spiritually, and always will be.
