Susan Katherine Ardito
Susan 'Sue' Katherine Bon Tempo Ardito, 92, died February 4th, 2024 in Providence, Rhode Island. Susan was born May 20th, 1931 in Woodbridge, Connecticut to Gladys (Barker) Bon Tempo and Alexander Bon Tempo. Susan was the youngest of six siblings: Josephine Raver, Julia Dorothy Bon Tempo, Alexander Frederick Bon Tempo, Mary Elizabeth Bon Tempo and Edna Monaco. She is survived by her sons Peter and wife Susan, David and wife Caroline, Richard and wife Kathleen, and daughter Susan Catherine Ardito and husband Kelly Rice. Susan was the proud and loving grandmother of Mia, Clay, Gregory, Emily, Amelia, and Jeremy Ardito, and Alexander and Oliver Wysocki. She is predeceased by her husband, George Gaetano Ardito, and son George G. Ardito, Jr.
Susan graduated from Hillhouse High School in New Haven in 1949 and then attended Southern Connecticut State College graduating in 1953. Upon graduation she taught at North Haven Center School. Susan married George Ardito on July 10th, 1954. They lived in Hamden, Connecticut where he practiced dentistry and together they raised their 5 children. Susan was a wonderful cook, and their home was always full of family, friends, and laughter. George and Sue loved to travel, visiting many destinations with family and friends.
After retiring from dentistry, George and Susan owned and were directors of several Sylvan Learning Centers. Later they moved to Bernardston, Massachusetts where they built a beautiful home on a hill. There they enjoyed nature, gardening, time with loved ones, and creating fabulous meals. Susan was very creative, enjoying crafts, painting, and making pottery. After her husband passed away, Susan spent time in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Denver, Colorado to be near her children. All her life Susan valued her family above all and showed her care and love for them in countless ways.
Susan will always be remembered for her warmth, joy, sense of humor, vibrant personality, and zest for life.
Funeral arrangements by Sisk Brothers in Hamden, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to alz.org. She will be laid to rest at Saint Mary's cemetery in Hamden. A celebration of life will be scheduled in the spring. Information regarding the service will be available at Sisk Brothers.
