I served with Tom during the Korean war on USS Calvert, APA 32. I was a third class electronics tech, he was first class radioman. We were good friends both onboard and on liberty, mostly in Japan. He was always a fine gentleman, upstanding, honest, and disciplined. He was a truly patriotic American, and he loved the Navy. I remember his telling me about his adventures on a fragile wood-hulled sub-chaser in the Med during WW two. He looked great when I last saw him at his 50th. My condolances to the family-he was a great wonderful dedicated man and a good friend. Val Galasyn,Capt. MC(ret.) Canterbury, CT.
