Edmund Galinski Obituary

ANDOVER TWP. - Edmund ""Deacon Ed"" V. Galinski, 84, of the Lake Lenape section of Andover Township, died at home on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, surrounded by his loving family after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Detroit, Mich., Deacon Ed was raised in Forest City, Pa., and moved to Andover Township in 1960. He was a project manager at Picatinny Arsenal for over 30 years before his retirement in 1986. A veteran of the United States Coast Guard, Deacon Ed served from 1950 to 1953, and later served in the National Guard. He was currently assigned as a deacon to Good Shepherd R.C. Church in Andover Borough and had previously been assigned to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Swartswood and St. John Vianney in Stockholm. Deacon Ed was a member and former grand knight with the Knights of Columbus and was also a member of the Sparta American Legion.
The son of the late Julius and Cassie (Zaleski) Galinski, Deacon Ed was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Francis and John Galinski. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary M. Galinski; three children, Edmund M. Galinski and wife, Elizabeth, of Wells, Maine, Michael J. Galinski and wife, Vicki, of Hampton Township, and Mary Ellen Russell and husband, James, of Andover Township; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Mary DeLuca, of Archbald, Pa., as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Good Shepherd R.C. Church, Route 517, Andover Borough. Interment will follow in Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery in Green Township. Visitation will be held today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to Good Shepherd R.C. Church, P.O. Box 464, Andover, NJ 07821.
