Brent Boulmay Obituary

Brent Francis Boulmay passed away peacefully at his home February 18th, 2024. Brent was born April 2, 1948 in New Orleans. He was a graduate of Cor Jesu High School in 1966 and earned his Bachelor of Arts in History at LSU- New Orleans in 1971. He spent most of his career as a real estate appraiser at the Central Appraisal Bureau before retiring from Capital One as a review appraiser. Brent lived most of his life in New Orleans and moved to Covington in 2006. Brent enjoyed traveling: Some of his best remembered adventures were a two week road trip from New Orleans to Mexico City in 1967 and the six weeks he spent in Europe with his future bride Janis in 1970. He enjoyed countless vacations to the Florida Gulf Coast; he and his family have so many happy memories of summers spent in Fort Walton Beach. After his retirement, he and Janis enjoyed traveling with highlights including visiting Cuba, many spots in the Caribbean, and Europe. He enjoyed his weekly coffee with his Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity brothers and lunches with his Cor Jesu buddies. He always looked forward to his semi-annual golf trips with the Bogey D group in Gulf Shores. For over 40 years, Brent and Janis played Bunco with their close friends as part of the LEBA (Lakeshore East Bunco Association) group. Brent was preceded in death by his mother Elva Poynot Boulmay, his father Lionel Soniat Boulmay, and his siblings Sigrid Giarratano and Dennis Boulmay. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Janis Loper Boulmay, his two children, whom he adored, son Brian Boulmay (Rachel-the best baker), and his daughter Meghan Cuevas (Roger-the always on-call handyman). He was lovingly known as 'BB' to his five grandchildren Brynn Tabora, Alexander Boulmay, Preston Cuevas, Sebastian Boulmay and Leo Boulmay. He also is survived by his siblings Charmaine Nordhausen and Ramon Boulmay. Brent's family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers from St. Catherine's Hospice for their care and Home Instead for allowing Brent to be at home with his family. He told his family in his last days with us "It was a good run" and we agree! A memorial mass will be celebrated at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in the name of Brent Boulmay to The Parkinson's Foundation online at parkinson.org or by mail: The Parkinson's Foundation 200 SE 1st Street Suite 800 Miami, FL 33131.

Brent and I go back to our days at St. Raphael grammar school and shared the distinction of every school we attended was on Elysian Fields Ave. So many great conversations we had while walking home from Cor Jesu. Brent was the quiet, gentle friend that anyone would long for. It has been my good fortune to have known him for most of our lives.

My condolences to Janis and Brent's entire family. The Brent I knew was a kind soul and an old school gentleman. He was generally very reserved, but always aware of what was going on around him. He never monopolized the conversation, but always had a salient point to make. I'll miss him! Rest in peace brother Lambda Chi.
