Carolyn Fischer Krobert

1920 - 2020

Carolyn Fischer Krobert passed away peacefully at her home in Kenner on Thursday, December 3, 2020. The daughter of the late August F. Fischer, Sr., and Louise Augustin Fischer, Carolyn was born in New Orleans on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1920, and celebrated every Thanksgiving Day for the next 100 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard A. "Mike" Krobert, daughter, Lucinda "Cindy" Krobert Frutos, and daughters-in-law Leslie Durel Krobert and Sandra Power Krobert. Carolyn is survived by her sons, Michael B. Krobert and Kenneth B. Krobert (Mary). Carolyn leaves behind her grandsons, Michael B. Krobert (Danielle), Lester B. Krobert (Tonya), Paul J. Krobert (Aline), David B. Krobert (Rebecca), and Stephen M. Krobert, and step-grandchildren Derek and Nicole Demourelle. She cherished her great-grandchildren, Drace Daunie, Dax Daunie, Delilah Krobert, Demi Krobert, Khloe Krobert, Alivia Krobert, and Meredith Krobert. Carolyn graduated from Newcomb College in 1939 and began a career at Mercy Hospital in the burgeoning field of medical technology. Her tenure at Mercy was interrupted by her husband's active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps and for child rearing, but eventually spanned some thirty-seven years. She was a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Born several months after the passage of the 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution, she learned from her parents that voting is a responsibility, duty, and privilege, and cast her last ballot in this year's national elections. Carolyn was a longtime member of the Metairie Woman's Club. She particularly enjoyed contributing recipes to and assisting in compiling the first three editions of the Club's cookbooks, "Merrily We Cook." Carolyn was a third-generation German-Creole cook who loved to entertain and feed her family and friends. Due to the current surge in Covid -19 infections, a Celebration of Carolyn's life limited to family members will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery.
