Chris Owens

Queen of Bourbon Street, Chris Owens passed away peacefully in her home of natural causes on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. She was the devoted wife of the late Sol Owens for 26 years and was the longtime and beloved companion of Mark Davison for 25 years. She was born in Stamford, Texas to the late Fred and Thelma Shaw and was also preceded in death by her 7 siblings: Dorothy Jean Shaw, Virginia Davison, Burnell Schmitz, Fred Moore Shaw Jr., Jim Shaw, Wanda Sue Ham, and Mike Shaw. She dearly loved all of her nieces and nephews: the late Randy Weems, Sherry Dale Costello, the late Brenda Brown, Amanda Shaw, James Shaw, Kim Shaw, Trey Shaw, Jay Shaw, Aprile Anglin, Sherri Heiting, Rock Shaw, Robin Ham, the late Trilece Ham, Michelle Pawski, Melissa Alamo, and Stephen Shaw. She is also survived by her longtime friends, Kitsy Adams and Sammy Steel, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. Chris was a legendary New Orleans icon and a dedicated family woman. Her love of New Orleans and passion for dancing facilitated her dream to become the owner and performer of the Chris Owens Club. Chris was a gracious and humble woman, never truly understanding her influence on others. She was a beautiful soul and the prankster of the Shaw family. She was loved by many and will never be forgotten. A public visitation will take place at Garden of Memories Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive Metairie, LA 70001 on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A private service and burial will be invite only.
