Smith/Carter Family

We were quite saddened when we heard the news about Connie's death. We began reminiscing about days at Progressive Baptist Church. Even as very young adults, both Connie and Gary were on fire for the Lord. As young people we would often be placed on program and whether it were Connie or Gary, each would prepare and excitedly participate in the work of the Lord. While we are already missing her down here, she has left precious memories for us to treasure, especially her zeal, her steadfast hope and her perserverance to the very end.

We love you and are praying for you.

I did not know Elder Carter personally, but as a member of GSS I had many opportunities to see her and experience her amazing presence and the Gift of God that lied within her. Even upon my last time seeing her I remember, how strong of a presence she had and how the annointing of the Lord was evident upon her. I have often prayed for her, it being evident that she was encountering a physical challenge. I will miss her-seeing her. I feel as though I knew her personally. How blessed her family has been to have such a Woman of God in their lives. God Bless You Continually.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Javetta,

Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. I wish I could be with you, and to pray with you, to help you, and to hold you. But I am here at any time to talk with you, to listen, and to comfort you. I wanted to write and tell you how sorry I am for your lost. There are never the right words to express how deeply sad I am that you have to endure your loss. Constance will be truly missed by everyone who knew her no matter where they crossed her path in life. I wanted to let you know again that I am here for you at any time you need me, just to listen or talk. You can call me anytime at 504 858-1414.

P.S. Please call at number above or email me at [email protected] with an address where I can send a card.

With My Deepest Sympathy,

To the family of Elder Constance Carter, just think on the good times you all shared. She was truly a woman of encouragement and love, she was always smiling even through her pain.
Be strong in the Lord and know that God will keep you in perfect peace if you keep your mind stayed on him.
Love to the family.

"... we are in the inner circle of divine love and life, and all is well; the eternal God is our refuge and underneath are the everlasting arms ..."

I have never found a more sincere and giving person than Elder Connie Carter. She epitomized the faithfulness of God to anyone taking notice. Her life was fully spent pouring out to others the selfless love of Christ.

I count it an honor to have known her and to have called her my friend. My heart is saddened by this great loss. My prayers are with her family and her children.
