Doug was such a kind good friend. We went to school together from the 7th grade until we graduated from ASH. I will always remember standing in the lunch line with him at Brame and he encouraging me about my having to have braces. Of course I had a crush on him like every other girl in the school. My heart goes out to all of his family. I pray God will give you peace in your time of loss.

Chad, Matt, & Aaron: It was a honor to be chosen to be at your Dad's side for his final walk. I will always carry those precious memories of our wonderful times together close to my heart.

November 13, 2013

to all of the Chenevert family: I mourn with you in the loss of your precious son, dear brother and awesome dad. Doug was always one of my favorite people in junior high and high school. As we are making plans for our 40-year reunion, I can't even imagine how it will be not to have his smiling face with us and be a part of that celebration. I don't think I ever saw Doug without that smile! What a great guy to everyone...you must be so proud! And what a beautiful service and tribute by his sons. The Dash is one of my favorite readings and Doug apparently filled his dash with great days and wonderful memories. Doug will remain in our hearts forever and we will truly miss him as we send prayers of comfort and peace to all of his family. God Bless you all.

The New Orleans Texaco office lost a good friend with Doug's passing. He wasn't just a great guy to work with - he was a great guy period. I loved talking to him about the outdoors. I think the last emails I got from Doug were of pictures of wildlife from his game camera in the basin. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family.

One of my fondest memories of Doug is when he "rescued" a bunch of his high school friends (including me) one night by guiding our fathers to a spot deep in the woods near Catahoula Lake where we had stuck our vehicle on the way out after brushing a duck blind. This was before cell phones and nobody knew where we were until somebody called Doug. It was cold that night and after midnight when Doug approached our vehicle and tapped his flashlight on the glass of the car door. I will never forget his smiling face and how glad I was to see him, but it was always good being around Doug. He was truly a genuine and nice person with a kind heart. I am saddened his passing and will cherish the memory of who he was and the many fun times we had together.

My most sincere condolences and love go out to Doug's family and friends at this time of sorrow. To say that I am heartbroken at learning that my best friend is gone just doesn't begin to express how much it saddens me to think of not being able to spend happy times in his company again. Doug was my best friend. Through thick and thin and he was my “Captain” guiding the way to some of my fondest memories. From the day we met we became fast friends. We spent many happy days while fishing and hunting together. If I can be happy about one thing it was that Doug met GOD doing what he most love in life with his faithful dog Holly by his side. My love goes out to his sons whom he was so proud to talk about and to his grand kids which brought a smile to his face each time he mentioned how they were growing. I'm going to miss you brother, fair sailing Captain……
